Plastic Skid Plates vs Aluminum

2 posts in this topic

Wanting to get a skid/glide plate for my 2011 CRF 450, and I'm intrested in the Acerbis /Cycra plastic style vs the Works Connection Alum. ones I have run for a number of years.

I'm just worried about the strength of the plastic ones.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Thoughts comments welcome.

Thanks,

KP

acerbis use to have plastic units back in the 80s and 90s. they work great for roost and small stuff. They will bend on a hard impact such as landing on a large rock. I lost an engine side case on a 87 cr250 years back, but well rider error more than anything there.

The new works connection units are rubber mounted, thus will not change the frame flex like previous models.
