Gear box

Has anybody swaped out a 06 wr gear box into a 07 yz ? If so did you have to change out the cams or leave everything stock.

That won't work. The '06 WR is an Gen1 450, while the '07 YZF as a Gen2. The trans in the later models is about 12mm wider overall.

However, the wide ratio trans from an '07 or later WR450 WILL fit, and can be installed using the YZF cam, forks and output shaft.

Factoid: If you use the first 3 gears from a YZF, and the 4th and 5th from the WR, you end up with a first 4 gears just like the '03 '05 4 speed, plus the 5th gear on top.

You mentioned this before, what is 4th gear like on the 03? Just inbetween 4/5 on the later models?

I think I want to try this to get a taller 4/5 for the fire roads I frequent... Either that or just a 5th.
