What kind of trails or riding does eveyone do?

You need to go to Diamondback MX Track and ride their 12 mile loop. Its everything you are looking for without the minefields.

About 75% open desert, and 25% tight woods.

WR works great in both, it's a matter of setup, technique, and experience for me. Suspension that's optimized for high speed whoops doesn't work too well in the tight woods or gnarly rocky hills. Same is true the other way around. I found a compromise that works pretty well in both for me. It's a personal preference thing to some extent. Also, use the clutch more in tight stuff for traction and to control power. Finally, just ride it more and get used to it. Before you know it, you'll really enjoy your bike in the tight stuff.

Good luck.
