Did the VIN get powder coated over?

One of my WR400s had been powder coated by the previous owner and the VIN got covered. I still don't know to this day if the VIN on the frame matches the paperwork. I took his word for it when I purchased the bike. So far I haven't had to deal with any LEO's looking for it, but that day will surely come.....

Day 9 - Steering repacked and greased.

Off to powdercoat? I think so!

Polish and clear the swing arm and linkage.. Or powdercoat black chrome.

They'll take it with the bearings in there?

The place I called said that it had to be fully 100% stripped :smirk:

Nice work so far, the frame and triple look amazing.

Polish and clear the swing arm and linkage.. Or powdercoat black chrome.

Sandblasting and doing a medium silver on the linkage and swingarm. I had to give that one some thought. That's why it didn't go with the rest of the parts...

So, did the VIN get powder coated over? Or, do they take measures to mask that area?

It looks as if it got the good ol' coating.

It looks as if it got the good ol' coating.

Any ideas on how to neatly remove it from that area? I'm thinking of selling a bike that has it's VIN powder coated over and want to remove the PC so the new owner can do a VIN verification. If you see your PC man again, would you mind asking him if he has a good way to neatly remove the PC from that area? Thanks.

Also got the JD Jetting Kit and a new radiator setup from Myler on it's way this afternoon.

Stoked!

Hey Shred, the triple clamps DO look trick in black..neat job..:ride:

Looks like your doing the FULL Monty!!

I guess you will be ditching the worn clutch cover?

Any plans for some sick coloured wheels on her?? Moto tyres or knobbies??

In relation to WR450F carby..I know FULL THROTTLE at Moss st in Slacks Creek south Brisbane have one or 2 there for around $300...

May be a bit of a drag coming all the way from OZ...

Maybe Ebay u.k/OZ might have one listed...

Thanks for the looks man.The wheels/hubs will be black, like the frame. I haven't decided what to do with the clutch cover yet... still weighing my options right now. There is still quite a bit of time left on this build so we shall see!

Day 12 - Didn't bother to take pics but got oil lines, electrical and subframe all tidied up today.
