Shift Shaft Question For 450

6 posts in this topic

Just bought an 08 yz450f and noticed the shift shaft has a little bit of play with it when moving in and out, but just a little, nothing insane. Wanted to know if it'll be alright to let go and what's the process of fixing it if I ended up wanting to? I'm pritty sure I'd be splitting the cases for this.

Thanks for any info:D

If you mean it moves in and out along the shaft axis, that's normal. Nothing to fix.

What do you mean by axis? If it helps I mean I can pull on the gear shifter and push it back in.
A little play like that is normal. And if you wanted to replace it, You dont split the cases.

normal. if it ever does get broken off you can replace it from the clutch side w/o splitting cases. 2 hour job tops.

Thanks guys. Just wanted some reasurance before summer racing kicks off. Also very good to know about not having to split the cases for it if it got way worse.
