06 swingarm on a 02

7 posts in this topic

It's probably not going to bolt right up. You may be able to make it work but the swingarm bolt may be different diameters and it may need machined down to fit inbetween the frame and engine. Most likely have to use rear wheel / axle, linkage and brake off of the 06. More trouble than any kind of improvement.

In the exceptionally unlikely case that it might fit or be made to, why do you imagine it would be an upgrade?

I already have a 06 Öhlins shock (like new cond). AFAIK it won’t fit my old swing arm. And the newer swingarm is lighter, isn’t it?

why doesn't the ohlins shock fit? I've bolted up an 09 yz450f shock onto my 01 yz125 and it fits like it was meant for it.

You should try the shock. The swing arm is a little lighter, but I doubt that swapping it will be practical. You would need a custom connecting link made, for one thing.
