PivotWorks wheel collars

5 posts in this topic

I thought the new wheel collars with o-rings to seal them would be a good thing to have for a woods bike. I ordered a "set" for $50. What I got was two front wheel collars, 4 o-rings and bearings and seals. Tried calling PW, but got no help. Nowhere does the website say that the set is front only. My bike nis new, so the bearings and seals were not needed either. Buyer beware, I suppose.

I feel like the giveaway would be that they list separate kits for the front wheel and the rear wheel. If you click on the "tech support document" button on the description page it shows you what is included in the kit. Their website does leave a bit to be desired about the product, but a google search shows plenty of info without having to hit the magic button on their website.

My front wheels have seals already. What is it that these claim to accomplish?

This kit has two rubber o-rings on the inside of the wheel spacer where it contacts the axle to prevent water from getting between the wheel spacer and axle. Personally I've never had a problem with this with stock wheel spacers. A little grease spread on the axle seams to work fine for me.

Well, hell yeah. That should worth $50. :smirk:B)

I shouldn't have to seek out a tech document to find out that I'm being mislead. A search using my model and year brought up only one set the front. No mention of bearings.

Since I had the bike stripped to just a frame with an engine on the bench, I figured I could replace a few wheel collars without insstructions. Live and learn I suppose. The tuff s#@t attitude of their customer service was what iced the cake. My dealer will no longer carry their products and I will not buy them.
