Hour meter issue

I have a new 2009 yz450f that I put an hour meter on. The meter is not keeping track of the hours and also not reading the right rpm's. I put it on my snow blower and it worked fine, put it back on the bike, and it's still not right. Any idea's would be great. Thanks.

Where did you wrap the wire around? If you didn't wrap it just below the coil which is directly above the spark plug it won't work. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your help, It is rapped around the coil. I did it twice thinking I didnt rap it tight enough the first time. this should be pretty easy, I didnt have any troubles with my 2008. What else is there to do? Thanks again.

You want it wrapped around the wires going to the plug AFTER the coil.

Have you even looked at the coil on your 450? The coil is built into the spark plug boot, and there are no "wires going to the plug AFTER the coil".

Sorry. Was thinkin frame mounted coil such as is on my other ride. Twas an honest mistake.

Old habits die hard, eh?

Wrap it twice and secure with a zip tie, like this :
