+2 you beat me to your answer. I have used ATF oil in the past with good results. I'm not using it in the cartrige fork because I like a lighter w oil then any published ATF oil weight that I have found. I have thought about using it in the outer chamber.

Try it out, if you like the feel than go with it. IMO it can't harm anything.

I have been using it in my "bikes" forks for a few years now and it works great. Goes in red and comes out red as well.
