dog bone bearings

4 posts in this topic

2006 yz 450. Can these bearings be pressed out, or do you use a blind bearing puller? Tried a vise and socket to press them out, but no good. Noticed a very small lip on the back side of the bearing as if there is a shoulder on the inside of the casting.

If you mean the connecting rod arm, the bearings cannot be pressed straight through if I remember correctly.

I put an aluminum rectangular-ish spacer on the inside of the bearing that gets good contact in four spots, and press it out from the other side with a bolt/punch/whatever.

Nope, you'll have to have a blind bearing puller or rig something up to get them out. Can't press them straight through. All other bearings on that bike can be pressed out though.
