buying a wrf450 05'

hello to everyone i am a newbie to the forum and also to wrf's......i want to purschuase a wr450f 2005 so i have some questions, what is the difference between the 2003-04-05-06 model and which by your opinion is the best?

The 05-06 have the slimmer YZ tank/shroud and they changed the linkage to lower the seat height some. All have the same engine, the best part of the bike, you can't go wrong.

The 03 models had some starter motor drama, that was sorted on the 2004 + models.

Very little difference otherwise.

In our rider group there are 3 WR 450's my 2005, an 03 and an 06.

Swapping between the bikes I cant really tell any difference other than rider set-up.

thanks for the reply's...i am from athens,greece...and tha wrf's here is overpriced like 6000euros the 2005....so thats why i ask about the perfect value fro money....all the wrf's take the yz plastics??

I agree totally. You can't tell the difference. Its a big bike, so you MUST get the right springs for your suspension.

I have an 05 and a friend I ride with has an 03. I would pick either one. They say that the tank is slimmer, but we tend to put on aftermarket tanks anyways. So... no difference there.

If you do get the 03, be sure that you fix the woodruff key issue, which is simple to do. Other than that, you'll end up owning you wr450 for a long, long time.

They made some minor head and cam changes in 05 to mellow out the power hit some didn't they?

It didn't lose any power, just made it smoother and more woods friendly

so the final conglusion is from 03 to 05 there are minor difference..just to find the right one...

prior to 06 the lower handlebar mounts are cast on the clamp...

I don't think the engine changed at all from 03-06.

They are all good bikes 2003 04 05 06

You won't go wrong mate.......
