3 posts in this topic

Guys I have a question. My bike is apart for the winter ( bought used ) and I have about .015" fore / aft backlash on the clutch basket. ( when I push it in and out )I assume this may be normal but am I bit worried. Thanks for all your great help by the way!

This has been asked before and I’ve seen this on my bike as well. The play is designed into the basket-backing plate connection. There needs to be some play between the two so the damper springs between the plate and basket can do their job.

The basket itself does not ride directly on the main shaft, the bushing in the backing plate does.
