09 YZ450F forks question/part

5 posts in this topic

I opened up my inner cartridge and found the valve comp. part number 2S2-2316A-20-00 to be all cracked.

Looking at the part on-line seems like I have to buy the whole assembly, does anyone know here if I can buy just the damaged part?

Thx

Yes, you can buy just the broken free piston, but not from Yamaha. Contact Dave Johnson at SMART Performance and he can either sell you just the one replacement, or a pair of tougher aluminum ones, along with anything else you might need for the forks.

There's a modification that you can easily do to prevent this:

Already done to the aluminum pistons.

Tell Dave I sent you. :bonk:

Second the above ,just fitted alloy pistons last week on my 08 along with springs to suit my weight ,rode yesterday and once dialed in noticed a massive gain not only in general handling but also with cornering no issuses with pushing middway thru a corner and a huge gain in confidence.
