2004 Oil pump Idler gear installation

3 posts in this topic

Bike is a 2004 WR 450F that I am rebuilding from boxes of parts

Just wondering if the oil pump idler gear is meant to have anything fitted behind it (i.e shims or washer), or does it just run against the crankcase alloy surface? I couldn't see anything in the parts listings to fit there...

See below for what I mean:

Runs directly against the case. There's a washer, then a snap ring on the outside.

Thanks for that!

How odd that it runs directly against the casing - I would have expected it to wear the alloy.
