Help! I still need part numbers for jets...

4 posts in this topic

I ordered some jets and a new EKN needle two weeks ago. Unfortunately, the needle that finally came in is OBDKN...

My parts guy is having trouble identifying the EKN needle because the Yamaha parts guide assigns them part numbers that don't indicate what they really are. For example: this OBDKN is listed as: 5JG-14916-DN-00 NEEDLE (#DVN) :)

I told him I would try to get a part number for him from my TT brethren since Monday is the earliest he can order it now anyway...

I am also going to order 50 and 55 starter jets if anyone has those numbers.

THANKS!

EDIT: Never mind the needle number; I just found it in the "Where to buy jets" post below... Thanks guys!

5JG-14916-EN

I thought I'd post anyway to remind you that, for whatever reason, on the '00 parts fiche the middle letter "K" is incorrectly replaced with a "V"

Over the years this has caused an inordinate amount of confusion at parts counters everywhere, in some cases coming perilously close to inciting acts of violence...

Thanks for the warning, Hick!

As I tried to nail down part numbers for my parts guy, I discovered that it is even worse than that... :)

At one point in the model years, they mix the pilot air jet up with the starter jet numbers (more than a little confusion there!!)...so I wound up with a 65 starter jet instead of a 65 pilot air jet... I looked under 250/400/426 for '98 through '02, both YZ and WR models and still can't get numbers for a 50 starter jet or a 65 pilot air jet.

I have found:

OBEKN needle: 5JG-14916-EN-00

38 pilot jet: 4MX-14948-02-00

55 starter jet: 3TJ-1494F-09-00

I CANNOT find:

65 pilot air jet:

7A9-14943-11-00 is a 60 paj

7A9-14943-17-00 is a 75 paj

so I would assume 65 is somewhere between 11 and 17...?

I CANNOT find:

50 starter jet.

55 is 3TJ-1494F-09-00

58 is 3TJ-1494F-10-00;

60 is 3TJ-1494F-11-00; and so on.

So I am guessing that xxx-08-00 might be a 50?

I really need to nail these numbers down so I get the right jets this time. It takes 1 to 2 weeks to get them and I'm running thin on patience. If anyone has any of these numbers I'm missing, I would be very grateful!!! :D

My advice for you is to call Sudco and get the adjustable Pilot Air Screw, then you will never have to buy another PAJ.

Sudco: (800) 998-3529

Pilot Air Screw PN: 021-230

Spring: 021-235

As for that smaller Choke Jet, you should be able to get that from Sudco also. Really all you need to be getting from Yamaha is the needle(s). Just ask for a choke jet for an FCR carb...

Carb Parts Warehouse also carries FCR parts:

(216) 524-1599

Hope this helps.
