Yamaha clutch basket replacement help.

2 posts in this topic

I'm expecting a new clutch basket from Yamaha this week and I was wondering if anyone had made the switch from the stock basket to a yamaha replacement basket? (Yamaha is warranting mine.) Any advice or problems to watch out for? I read that the old one makes a nice clock!

Glen,

You have an ’00, right?

You may want to check the clearance between the rivets on the backing plate and the right rear head bolt boss (a small protrusion inside the cover just behind the clutch where the rear head bolt threads into the cases). If so I recommend taking some material off the rivets with a grinder, a small amount is all that was needed in my case.

I had to replace my cases and thought it was interesting that the replacement part was cast with an indention in this spot where my clutch used to rub the original case.
