Chain Muck

2 posts in this topic

Anybody have some advice on how to remove that waxy muck that comes on a new chain. That stuff sucks up dirt and anything else it can and fouls the chain before you even get the chain broken in

I'm getting ready to buy anew chain for my YZ and wanted some sage wisdom before I get the chain so I can start off with a clean chain and better take care of it.

Thanks,

Bubz

Clean it in gas. Dry it and then re-oil it.

You could also use a thinner chain lube. I was using the Maxima chain wax but got tired of everything sticking to it. I went to the traditional foam stuff and not the chain stays clean. Is is lubricating better? Don't know but it isn't near as messy or difficult to clean.
