YZ426F help.

Ok, so I replaced the fuel screw assem. tonight (spring, washer and "o" ring) with an adjustable unit. Fuel screw was set at 1 turn out from closed. Manual recomends 1 1/2-1 3/4 from closed. Tried setting it where it was. Then the factory settings and bike still hard to start, Wont even try with choke on?????I'm Running out of ideas now. Get the bike started after what feels like 50-60 kicks. shut it off and immediately kick it again and it fires right up. let it sit for 10-20 minutes fires first kick with no choke or hot start?? Could it be low compresion, carb issue, ignition???

not to thread jack, but i am having a similar problem with my 426. i disassembled and cleaned the carb, and to think of it. there wasn't any spring or o-ring on the fuel screw. and the only way to get it started is to have the choke and hot start levers pulled out. and once its started it will idle off of the choke. but once i push the choke in, it dies.

ok, Have another question on the 426 here. I have a large capacity tank on my 426. Curious to know if this affects the float in the carb at all. Found out the bike will start better cold if i run the bike out of gas and let it sit overnight. Let the fuel off and twist the throttle and go through the drill for kicking. Usually it will attempt to start even with the choke on within a few kicks. Anyone have any thoughts?

you definitely need the other components in there fro the fuel screw.

most common cause of bike running with choke on, but dies when choke is off is an incorrect or clogged pilot jet.

I was having the same problem with my 2001 YZF426 up until last week end. The hose that comes off my Gas cap has a little shut off valve inside it to stop dirt from getting in I guess and it was stuck on... Take that little peice off of the end of the hose and just put the hose back on without it (make sure it's not blocked)... Starts First Kick Every Time now. Hope this helps... enjoy my friend

Brrrraaaap!

jetting was the fix for my 2000 yz426.
