Any of you guys (Aussies aside) thinking of coming to Australia for a holiday/ride in the next 12 months? If so, there's a race my club runs which you might want to consider riding. It's called the Hattah Desert Race, which is the second biggest race of its type in Australia. Runs for four hours straight, multiple laps of a 35km track. I'm guessing it's sort of like the US GNCC races, except the conditions are usually PRIMO. They get rough and whooped out, but have a look at these pics from last year's event to get an idea. The first few are from the Friday night scrutineering/show and shine/meet and greet. Next page has some magic shots showing the conditions. http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/8773888_mjRZ3/1/580838968_cB6mf#580838968_cB6mf There is an iron man, which means one rider doing the whole four hours straight. You can also do pony express - two riders doing alternate laps. If there's a group willing to come across I should be able to help out with entry fees etc. The race is on the first weekend in July every year. Just do a Google for the race, there's heaps of coverage floating around.
