2010 YZ450F Suspension

Searched - but did not see anything. Apologies if this is a repeat.

Anyone got a good base sag setup for 2010 YZ450F ?

I am thinking of setting it up in the 100-102mm range. My '08 was 95-98mm.

My forks are flush with the triples (stock setup). People with bikes - what are you running ?

Mr smith, I have at talked with craig decker @ enzo [ I've used them for years ] they are using 105 to 108 sag , it helps the high in rear stance..They also told me to go to .48kg fork springs w the stock 5.7 rear. The rear is ok up to 200 # I'm at 195 # . I have tried 100 mm to 120mm sag . The .48 with 106mm sag works for me . I like it enough I may not need a revalve . I'm at 6-8 clicks out on the fork, The rear is stock on compression, w stock to -1 on rebound. It is better balanced & front is not as low feeling. I like stiff front with a softer feel to the rear. Stock I actually thought it steered too quick. This is for mx only. Also changing the FI maps makes it corner differently also. As in less hit doesn't up set the chasis as much in the corners, or break the tire loose. Now go ride it .setting in the garage looking at it gets nothing done. jeff

I am also looking for a set up, I am 220 without gear and 6'2" tall! Does anyone know what spring rates fit this category? Oh I am a Vet B rider. Thanks

I may as well ask too. I am 81kg 176 lbs with gear on, 180cm 5.9 ft is stock spring rates ok for me??

If yer gunna get a re valve I would check with yer tuner. But we ended up doing .52kg fronts & 6.2kg rear with #220lb w/o gear rider

went riding at the track today for the first time with this bike. It was fun riding it but the forks and rear shock felt pretty stiff to me. All the settings were stock (on the forks and shock).

i noticed when doing this big triple jump(90ft)that when I landed it felt stiff in the forks when I landed. I could feel the harshness in the handle bars. Later on in the day I went out 2 clicks on the fork compression to 15 out and 2 clicks out on the rebound to 12 out.

I wound up going 3 more clicks out on the low compression on the shock to where it is 11 clicks out. The rebound i went to 16 clicks out (just 2 more out from stock). On the high compression I went 1/6 more turn out to try and to get the shock to sink a little more.

I was running the stock race sag which was on my bike and it was 102mm with 38mm static sag.

the only thing I didnt like about the rear shock was that it seemed that it wasnt giving any around turns and made the bike feel that it wasnt squating enough for me around turns. But i got to thinking that if I lowered my race sag down (to say) 98mm to 100mm "wouldnt that make the spring stiffer", for what I'M want the rear shock to do(squat or give more when going around turns)?

I dont know!......maybe it is just me or The all the suspension's is just stiff for this bike to accomodate heavier riders. I weigh 197lbs with all my gaer on and 174lbs in just underwear.

I rode today about 1 hour and half (actual riding time) so i guess the bike is ready to be raced now. First race is the second weekend in march. I will try to ride it again one more time before that but we are going to get some bad weather this week and this next coming weekend so I guess it will be the weekend of the race before I can ride it again.

Oh! one other thing about the power. It was throttle sensitive and i put more play in the throttle cable. I know around turns if you werent all the way up on the tank the bike wanted to rare up with ya.

I found it sorta hard to get it to stay in the ruts and to go around turns. May be it was because of the stiff forks and rear shock and the tubes flush with the top clamp or the combanation of both.

After the third time out and when I came back in and let the forks cool a bit i bled the forks and to my surprise no air came out (bike was on the stand).
