13 posts in this topic

Every time i wash my yz (not power wash) it pop´s back fire and it won´t start until i put a new sprak plug.

Last time i washed her, i put a new spark plug, then i ride for a few minutes, to dry it up.

Than next morning it start´s OK (like usual when it as a new spark) but after ride like 30 minutes the motor shot down...

I take the spark plug of and it was black (very black) then i put a new one, it run´s fine for another 30 minutes , than the same....

- i clean the carb

-check the oil level- OK

-put a smaller main jet (cause i think it was to ritch)

Put a new plug it start´s ok like allways when the spark plug is clean. and it do me the same after a will of riding...

Clean the carb, if you haven't done so. You may have a fully or partially clogged passage somewhere. I had that problem with a 250, and am having a bit of an issue with it now on a different 250.

Is the bike stock? What is your jetting now?

I recently had a similar problem on my 02 426. Turns out it was a plugged air vent line. One of the lines had dried mud in it and was forcing a rich condition on start up. I snipped the plugged end off the vent tube, started with a new plug, and I've been out on the track three weekends without any issues.
