oil level check bolt

2 posts in this topic

Hi all , i have a brand new 09 yz450 which i just purchased here in aus for a very good price. My question is in regards to checking the oil level, how many of you remove the crankcase oil level check bolt (beneath the gear lever )to make sure there isn't excess oil in the crankcase as the manual states.

Cheers !

I don't. Never had a reason to. If you drain both the crankcase ans oil reservoir, and change the filter, refilling with 1 Liter puts the right amount of oil in the system. If not servicing the filter, use 1 Quart instead (950ml).

If you do use the level check bolt, be sure you do so only after running the engine long enough to completely move oil from the sump to the oil "tank".
