WR450 top speed?

WR450 stock gearing. removed baffle, grey wire, snorkle, rejet. I'm 200lb approx. with gear. A buddy with GPS on KTM520 riding beside me on a dirt road said I was running 92mph at the rev limiter. When I sat up and said that's it, he ran the KTM520 up to 95mph and said that was all it had. It felt like the bike was running slower, but after riding sportbikes then getting on a bike that tops out at almost 1/2 the speed it does seem slow.

Hope this helps.

91 mph @ el mirage ca. dropped 1 tooth on the rear to 49:crazy:

87 on gps not rev limiter but close

this post is 5 years old

i've hit 84 on my 07 with all the free mods

81mph with my stock '07

ya i had my 450 on apaved road and i got it up to 92.. my mom boyfreind stayed beside me in his truck.. that wut his gauges said. i have a 03 450 baffler and restrictions tookin out..

i kno i think its funny how my buddies say a wr 450 is shit and it coudn't take a yz 80 on the track and they're motor cross 250's will smoke me on trail and a mile drag i got yz cam timing and a lil motor work

i find this post to have an extremely high amount of variables...for instances gearing is the first and for most.

i know for me that i can run a 15/48 and pretty much only do 92 on the pavement but change the rear to a 50 and which gives me less top end i can do 96 or so (all gps verified)

who are you questioning me... caus e i really did this.. my motor work ain't nothin speciall.

Hi,

What do ya reckon I'm gettin when I run 15/36 supermoto then ?? ( i usually run 14/36).

By your workings above I must be able to do 124mph ??? Although my wheels are 17" so maybe 115 ??

Gearing is a big variable! We put on a 47 tooth for Vegas to Reno and, had her going almost 100 across a dry lake bed! I'm sure the supermoto set up would be another factor. I just watched a rally Subaru vs a supermoto WR 450 on you tube. It was in french and, kind of hard to understand but, on a rally course the WR beat the WRX.

Gearing 15/50 and hit 100mph on pavement with aggressive dual sport tires Pirelli mt21's. There was still a little more in it but I was running outta straight away. Bike is stock apart from the free mods and the gray wire is still plugged in

82 with 12/50 . Hit the limiter

Got up to 85 m.p.h. on the speedo.I was not on the limiter. All free mods done.

I have done all the free mods and added a FMF powercore pipe on my 07 450. It is amazing how tough this bike is. It is a beast but for some reason I am topping out at 80mph and that is with the engine at full rpm.

My bike seems to like to rip it up from 10-60mph. I dont know what I would need to do to get the speeds some of you guys are talking about. Maybe changing sproket size but other than that it seems like I cant get anything more out of it. Luckily I can fullfill my max speed desires on my 1200GSA.

96 MPH on the speedo with a 06 WR450

if you want speed gear the bike up and let the torque of the 450 pull :p , over reving a torquie motor with low gearing wont give you speed only strech your arms accelarating. You cant have the best of both worlds

What size MT 21 are you running?

05 sumo

14/ 42

115-125 cant tell because of the headshake

115-125?...Do you have a stabalizer on that thing?

Mike

I was told (haven't tried) that it's about 150km/hr (yes, I have to be different) that works out to about 90mph but sounds MUCH faster!!!!

Either way - I don't think I'll ever hit that speed....
