I have hit 88 mph as indicated by my Panoram computer WFO in 5th. I have 14/50 gearing. Accuracy is probably +/- 5%.

Use a GPS they make it easy. My 02 Wr250f would go 84 mph with the stock gearing, so a 450....when I get mine I will let you know.

My 01 would do 89mph with a 15 counter... I'm sure my 450's good for that if not a little more...

I clocked mine with a gps at 84mph with the stock gearing. It was on a dirt road though and the rear end was skating back and forth. I bet on the pavement it could hit 90mph. :)

I've had my WR450 up to 80 and I backed out of it because I was on gravel and there was a corner coming up, plus the PUCKER factor was starting to get my attention. That was with my analog speedo for a XT 350 that I installed rather than the odometer. It will probably maintain 70 but the engine would really be singing.

My WF450 is street legal and I've had it on the interstate at an indicated 88 mph on the panoram with it feeling like there was a little more left. It is quite happy commuting at 70+ mph on the interstate with stock gearing. Plus, on the street I'm getting about 43 mpg.

Well I was down in Mexico (Rocky Point) last weekend and I was drag racing with another WR450 down a flat straight road and we were hitting a top speed of 99.7mph according to his digital speedo. We were both running 15-48 gearing with uncorked stock exhaust , air holes in airbox, and richer jetting including the YZ450 needle.

Sounds about right! :)

A buddy road raced his WR450 last weekend, hit 114 at the end of the straight. Think 15/43 was his gearing, and he was on 17's.

Sound like a Super Motard set up to reach 114 mph? Knobbies would slow him down considerably! :)

If it was geared for speed, it would probably be capable of at least 115mph. I had an XT350 that would pull @95+ on the flat, and with a back draft and slight hill, it was doing 105 with a passenger. I know the wr250 and 450 have to have more power than my old XT. My DR650S also could crawl its way up to 116 before I shut it down, and I'd guess that the wr450 would be a little stronger than my 650. I just don't know where the torque figures are. Dirtbike mag did a comparison between a CR500 and VFR back in 85 I believe, and the CR walked away every time. I forget what the mph's were, but dirt bikes can hit the 100+ barrier. They also did speed tests on a dry lake and were coming in @ 120mph. Not bad, but that was regeared and they made a mini fairing for it.

Awsome 80mph is the fastest I'd need to go.

The Jeep only tops off at 85mph before it gets too scary dangerous. Its either a WR450 or a YZF R6.

What does this have to do with anything??

I asked the top speed to make sure it could handle the highway. I don't know if I want a YZF R6 or WR450 dualsport... My main vehicle is a Jeep and the a WR450 can go faster then I can go now and I didn't think it would be able to and the Jeep goes as fast as I need to go. 80 mph

The fastest I've had mine is about 160mph. No wait, that was my R1. Ahhh, I think my WR will go about 120, since it is a little slower than my R1. :)
