Stuck valve bucket

3 posts in this topic

2005 YFZ450 How is the best way to remove a valve bucket that won`t come out? Tried the magnet, pliers method. Cam has probably rolled a burr up at the top but not enough room to sand the burr. What about welding a rod to the bucket, then buying new buckets?

Hot glue gun and a stick, or 5 minute epoxy and a stick. The epoxy should scrape off if the top is very smooth. however, there may be scratches on the side of the bucket from the pliers, so check it out very carefully after you pop it out.

Brutal. Do you do Geico commercials? :ride:

This is a fairly common occurrence, even without seizing the cams. Try the simple step of taking a sharp knife blade and cutting a chamfer along the edge where the cam bore intersects the lifter bore. The chips generated will be larger and more easily removed, there won't be any sand involved, and you won't need new lifters.
