Rebuild or replace crankshaft- '02 426

There I was, minding my own business on the Kart track when my motor decides to do the chug-a-lug and stall out. Get back to the pits, start it up to check the oil, and it dies again. Just. Stops. oil and water level was fine, but now it is very, very hard to kick over. So I stopped trying to kick it over, because I'm smrt like that.

Anyway, the history of the bike is that it was run out of oil (drain plug fell out) which caused the piston to melt to the cylinder, I bought it and got it running again with a +2 mm piston. I see two possible scenarios immediately, one is another melted piston, or a seized crank. Oh, no more than 15 hours are on the engine since I replaced the piston, didn't mess with the crank. Of the two options, I know lots about replacing the piston, where to get parts and gaskets, etc. What I need help with is finding a crank supplier or a crank builder for this bike. Most suppliers (Hotrods, Wiseco ) only go back to '03 on the 450's, nothing for the 426.

Before I tear into the engine I want to line up some worst case scenario options, so here are my questions: Anyone know of a supplier for a crank kit for the 426? How about a shop that can rebuild my existing crank with new bits? What about a stroker, any success with one of those or am I asking for (yet still more) issues?

go to motosport.com they have a new crank asslembly for 340 bucks

I looked on their site but couldn't find it. Could you post up a link to the specific page? And I really need a new or rebuilt crank, the big end bearing is solid.

i think i need one too along with a new head and piston. a new head on this site is only 600 compared to others that charge 900

Mr Crankshaft, $189.99 including return shipping. I shipped my crank this afternoon for less than $20 using a flat rate medium box from USPS including $600 insurance. Here's the work quote from Vince-

That's a pretty good price. So that includes the rod kit and return shipping? Not bad at all! I used to rebuild cranks at a shop I worked at for $60 plus the rod kit which was about $90. These were 2 stroke cranks though, a little easier as there is no timing gear to mess with.

Yes, rod kit and shipping, kit in stock. Crankworks quoted $130 for kit and $70 for labor, but Vince at Mr Crankshaft started asking me a bunch of questions and giving timely replies to mine, so away we went. He said 1-2 day turn-around, so now I just need to source out some bearings and start banging away on the cases.
