New + Used Bike Oil Change

I bought a used 1998 WR400 a couple of weeks ago. I road once for about 4hrs. I changed the oil today and found a lot of metal shaving in the filter and in the filter area. Metal also came out of the crankcase drain plug. The oil seemed to have a fuel odor to it. Can anyone give me some advice? I am a new rider and would like input.

Aluminium metal shavings are normal. They are from the abuse of the clutch basket. I usually get about 10-20 little pcs on my filter.
