426 piston

yz 426 trying to decide on a piston. which brand? 13.5 or 12.5? would i benefit from the higher ratio for a trail/gravel pit bike?

13.5. Those will still run on pump gas. I don't have a brand preference although I generally go OEM for internal parts when possible. (obviously that's not the case here).

im looking at a je in the tt store. will they go in without having to change anything? are they worth getting??

I'd expect it to go in without changing anything mechanical. Definitely will need to go through the jetting routine when you're done (might want to check with JD for a kit). At least make sure the cylinder bore is straight and true and the plating is good and honed for the new ring. JE has a pretty good reputation. Never used their pistons myself.

its gonna be slid into a brand new oem cylinder with a hotcams ex cam

go for it.

I like CP pistons, but JE is also excellent.

Get yourself a Wiseco 13.5:1. I had one and loved it. :banghead:

I don't think anyone makes a bad piston, but I've used Wiseco's for years with great luck.
