yz 400/426 question

Anyone know if a 426 sleeve will press into a 400 jug without machining?

Anyone know if a 426 sleeve will press into a 400 jug without machining?

Yes, I do.

No, it won't. But that's mostly because they don't use sleeves. The cylinders are 100% aluminum alloy with Nikasil plating.

well thats weird.. i was just on ebay and there was a sleeve there for a 426. is there a way it can be changed or is this just a typo???

Sleeves exist for repair purposes, but all of them require machining to install, since, as I said the cylinder doesn't have one to begin with.

what would u suggest i do? i have a 400 that i am doing the 426 upgade with. sleeve it or buy a new cylinder?

The cylinder is the better way to go. Plated aluminum cylinders have a lot of advantages over sleeves.

thank you sir. ill go with the cylinder
