How to determine a hot running engine?

1 post in this topic

Does anyone have a simple or good way to know if their bike is running hot?

I installed a FMF Power Core 4 and after I road the bike for 10 minutes some smoke was coming out the exhaust.

The next day I jetted the carb (48 pilot, 68 main), installed a YZ needle on clip position 5 and I turned the fuel screw out 2 turns. But the slill seems funny and may be running hot.

I also checked the spark plug and it looked lean.

Can anyone provide some guidance?

Thanks, Bruce
