Turbo YZ

i really dont think that your gunna get the turbo to even spool up.. i still think the turbo is way to big?

i guess well see

its prob goin come on fast higher in the rpms. do u have a compressor map for it?

i know where one is. i did a bunch of fromulas and stuff and found the info i needed to find where im at on the x axis. but couldnt get the y. i can get the url of the map if you want

post it up, im sure some one can give you some better ideas on how ittl respond.

i just got it started up. sorry no video yet. its running really rich. it idols just fine then goes up to 1/2 throttle just fine then gets real rich. (doesn't get a chance to build boost) i think my base fuel pressure is to high. but its as low as my regulator will go. maybe somethin else is wrong. here is the compressor map: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT15/GT1544_454083_2.htm

i doubt that turbo is too big

a local company that turbos quads believe that single cylinders require large turbos because of the exhaust pulse

i dont quite understand that logic but they do hold the world record for uphill drag racing so im gonna go ahead and believe them :banghead:

yz480doinwork: did u pressurise ur float bowl with a pitot? or anything? any pics please :banghead:

on my turbo sled i have my regulator set to 8-9 psi and it has a boost reference port on it that raises the fuel pressure 1psi per a per of boost.

i have 4 pounds base pressure. what is a pitot?? i presurized my float bowl and the other vents that needed it with a line off my charg tube. headin out here soon to put a smaller jet in. ill try to get a video

if your revving it on the stand it wont build boost, you need load on the motor. try taken it for a ride.

i did. it didnt make any difference. i droped the main from a 175 to a 165 now to the stock 158. still seams to rich. its getting better as i go down. it will now build about two pounds for a few seconds and then start farting. i think ill keep going down with the main

:banghead: thats GREAT i love it completly mental but i love it

gotta see uptaded pics or vids.pleeaaase?

Here is the latest pictures. few things to note. my boost gauge is off. it reads 2 pounds with the engine off (because i droped it), and i stole that air filter off my snowmobile. still waiting for my filter in the mail. and the red teather switch is hooked up to my fuel pump. so if i crash it wont flood my engine as bad. still not sure what to do with the battery. i tryed it out behind the front number plate. didnt work there. its just duck taped to the front fender right now. still lots of work to do. mainly wating on a smaller jet. short video will be up soon

i cant wait to see the action vid of that thing.

that monster is bitchin!!!!!!!!!!!!

sound great!

wat fuel pressure regulator are you running???

i was told to use one with a return line on it so it doesnt always try to push fuel into the carb and it will return back to the tank and it isent as hard on the fuel pump.

i have a areomotive fuel reg. and yea it has a return line. the pressure does not go low enought on the adjustment tho. i gotta take it apart and fix that problem. got my air filter in today. i thought it would be smaller but its the same size as the one in the pic. but its for dirt so im set:)

just took it for a ride up the road. i can slip the clutch holding it wide open and after a wile it will clean out of its blubbery stage and rev all the way up. i was seeing like 8 pounds of boost but it was hard to keep it when you let the clutch all the way back out. this turbo has no problem at all spooling up or making boost.

i think you can just cut the muffler off. no need to have it with the turbo. thats what all the streetbike guys do. since the turbo itself acts as a spark arrester and muffles the sound.

do you need to slip the clutch? that shouldn't be. Have you upgraded the clutch?
