8 posts in this topic

I have a decompression cam for me YZ 400F. Does anyone know of an after market block off kit to replace the decomp parts in the head?

Went to my local Autozone first- guys there didn't know what a freeze plug was and couldn't find in the computer since it is set up to search by year/auto make/model.

Went to NAPA alittle further away and they had them for 0.69 cents-steel only, but I'm not sure it makes a difference (brass or steel). I bought 4 since you may mess them up installing.

This is how I did it (found in another thread from Grayracer):

You might be able to fit a C clamp in there and press it in that way? Otherwise remove right radiator and get a straight shot with hammer and socket.

Use red locktight on the plug. The plugs come in flat, shallow and deep. I think I got the deep cup shape which is not that deep-about 4-5mm deep if I remember right. Drive it in until the lip is flush with the surface of the cylinder head or it bottoms out.

Marv-

Way to go, buddy...welcome to the 21st century!

You can find a plug on e-Bay if you don't want to go the freeze plug route.
