Anyone fitted a SS Pwr Bomb Header to FMF Q2 - 2006?

I am fitting a Q2 for a 06' YZ450f to my 07' WR450. I want to mate it up with a Stainless Steel Power Bomb header but FMF apparently can't help me out.

Has anyone done this? Any suggestions?

Anyone besides FMF that will make a Stainless Steel header for the 06'? I ride/race off road and do not want Ti.

The guy at FMF seems to have OD'd on his Prozac today, it was like talking to a wet towel

What is the difference in pipe diameter from 06' to 07' - 08'?

Thanks in advance,

Don

DRD makes one, but I don't know whether they will sell separately. I'll check the diameter of the stock '06 and the DRD and get you those numbers later today or this evening. The YFZ quad headers were stainless, but I don't know about the fit to the later bikes.

KJ790 knows that one.

Pro Circuit makes a stainless header, but it is EXPENSIVE!

MRD makes full systems out of stainless, but I'm pretty sure you could ask him to make you just the header. It'll likely be custom if you tell him what power characteristics you want from it and what muffler you're running (he posts over on the CRF side all the time).

I know this probably won't make a difference with your preference but you can find stock Ti YZ headers on ebay on the cheap all day long. A new powerbomb is what $179...and a hard enough wreck is gonna smash a stainless header anyways.

I run an '07 YZ header on my bike and picked it up for around $80 something and change including shipping (brand new take off).

Just something for you to think about.

I think you're looking for this. Just put the header on last night. Haven't rode it yet. Matched up to the stocker it is a little shorter header length. 41.75mm O.D. Are exhaust ports the same 06 to 07?

Buy a powerbomb for an 03-06 YZ450F and it will fit if the silencer is to fit an 06 YZ450F.

The '06 header measures 41.5mm (1.625"). The DRD headers are slightly smaller at 40.8 (1.605")

That looks stainless... but is it?

That's exactly what I want. If it is Stainless which year did you order for?

Thanks!

That would make sense, they (FMF) lists the Ti unit as fitting 03-06 and another unit that fits 07-08..

However over in the Stainless Steel selection, they list one that fits 03-05 and another fitting 07-08, nothing listed for the 06':excuseme:

Thanks guys for the feed back:thumbsup:

03-06 is the same header, must be a typo on their part.

Stainless. Part#044031. I bought it 5/31/06. Had to let it age before I installed it:goofy: Can't believe I found the invoice. I don't see that part# on their sight.

Ti will always have a seem.

Yam YZ/WR450F'03-06/YFZ450'04-06 S/S S/X POWERBOMB HEADER is what is printed on the invoice

FMF has decreased the number of powerbomb options available for the YZ450F in the last two years. They used to have the SX powerbomb (#044031 and #044032) and MX powerbomb (#044033 and #044034) in both stainless and titanium, and the factory forward powerbomb (#044085) in titanium only (this is the same as the SX powerbomb, but in a low boy design). Now they no longer sell the SX powerbomb in stainless. The only option for stainless is the MX powerbomb (#044033), which is what I have on my 06 right now. I was running a factory forward powerbomb, until I had a little run in with another guy in a first turn that left me with an expensive piece of scrap metal for a header and a new see through carbon fiber clutch cover

Thanks for all the info and help. It appears that FMF's website does list a SS MX Power Bomb for 03-06, 044033 where as the TT catalog (TR) has a typo in it...

Really wanted the SX version but oh well...

This speaks loudly to the level of Customer Service FMF is providing. I was on the phone with the kid this morning and asked - "Can I get a SS powerbomb header for the 06' YZ450?" his reply was "nope"... BS!

Thank god for TT, you guys here in the YZ forum are great despite what the guys in the WR forum say about you:busted:

You can choose your friends, but not your family :worthy:
