Edlebrock carbs don't have chokes. At least not the pumper carbs. Yamaha does not come with a Edlebrock, someone added to improve overall performance. Usually three turns of the throttle before kicking it is all you need. Don't touch the throttle when kicking. Turning the idle up also helps during starting.
