Gas Gas 200 Vs KTM 200

I've been in the market for a KTM 200 and I came across a great deal on a '07Gas Gas EC 200. I'm wondering what the pros and cons are of the Gas Gas. From what I've researched the weight is about the same and I read reviews about the Gas Gas making broad power, anything else?

They are sweet bikes for sure.

CONs:

- very bad re-sale value (in US)

- lack of near by dealers (where I am)

- some little things on the odler bikes but the new ones are sweet.

- Jetting from factory sucks (most of the time)

They are really reliable, and you can change the power very easy with just some little mods here and there.

In my opinion the GG is the best bike in the market for trail and woods riding. What type of riding do you do?

Hold up there, my KTM 2hun feels nothing like my GG 3hun(200/250). One is 125 based the other is 250 based. I don't even think about putting the KTM on a stand or back up on the trail, now the GG that is no way the case.

The difference is 20lbs.

Thats silly. My EC250 dosent feel like a EC300 because its not. The 300 feels heavy to my bike just because the bigger piston and effect of inirtia.

Now I see what your saying to an extent. Yes the Gasgas EC200 is based on a 250 engine and chassi and the ktm is a overbored 125.

Now with Gasgas set-up you do get more weight yes, but what you get is an engine with huge water jackets and super reliable seeing how most of its parts withstand 250 and 300 2 strokes.

Where with a KTM you just have a bored and stroked 125.

And what the hell are you saying in this?

I like the Gasgas motor a lot. It also handles well and has nice suspension. I wish it was 125 based. The comment about it's weight is valid in my opinion. If you do a lot of riding that involves some lifting, pushing, and dragging a light bike is nice. I don't like anything about the KTM other then the weight though so I would probably still pick the Gasgas.

I don't need to choose either though as I have a WR125 for a light weight tight woods bike.

Trails, mostly the tight stuff and maybe some fire-roads.
Bike will be fine for that type of use and super durable to boot.For aggresive level junior racing the ktm may be a better choice only because it comes more dialed in or edgy for racing then the gasser keep in mind the ktm will have inferior stock suspension compared to the gasser.I dont think you can go wrong either way.

Thanks for all the info. I went and looked at the bike and if it sounds to good to be true it probably is, it was a piece. Maybe next time.
