top speed on a 426

i was riding with a few guys last month. they have 250 2 strokes. and i got the 426. well in a drag race i smoked them bad. and then we were talking to see whats the top speed on my bike. does any one know? and it has stock gearing.

According to Dirt Bike (Sept. 2000) in their Real Numbers article, top speed for a YZ426 is 88 mph. WR426 is 90 mph.

On pavement, maybe. Take 10mph off at for wheel spin in the dirt.

dirt Rider's recent 450 shootout had top speeds in the 75 - 79 range for all the 450's --- the 'ol 426 is likely comparable on top end. Should be roughly the same as the 250 2 strokers on the big end, but there are too many variables to think of in impromptu drag racing.

I got smoked in a drag race on sand by a 125 (i was on a KX 500) --- he hooked up and went, while i dug an 8" deep ditch for 100 ft before i hooked up

At first I was gonna suggest you run a paddle tire but then I remembered the last time (and only time) I rode a KX500 in the sand and it didnt have one. LOL. It was too fast with just a regular tire on it. I couldnt imagine one with a paddle tire.

ill check my gear ratios and radar them both. i know the wr450 is way past 95mph. my son and i raced with me on our klr650 and the speedo said 95 and he walked past me.

My 07 yz 450 when brand new(stock) went 84.6mph according to my magellan handheld gps. Just figured id throw that info in there for some of the 450 guys
