When to change piston rings with 13-75-1

9 posts in this topic

I have about 50 hours on my bike with a CP 13-75-1 Piston.

How many hours do you guys think i can get out of it before i freshen it up.

Heck the old piston was so nice at 20 hours i listed it for sale.

Well if you cannot hear any excess slap and are not burning any oil, I would say youre ok. You will probably notice some kind of wear indication before it goes. There are many people on here who have ran their pistons for 70+ hours with no problems.

Yes. And my '03 had in the neighborhood of 400 hours on all the original stuff when I sold it. Not so much as a valve adjustment.

All my hours from day one were race/practice hrs...never had to adjust the valves once and ran like a ____ ape before I opened her up for a new piston (which still looked perfectly usable)
