How do you install it?

Go check the link Velo provided. Installation is fairly easy jobb. Done in 5-10 minutes.

Nope. Just pull out the stock tensioner but be careful with the o-ring so you don´t drop it inside the engine. Install the DT tensioner according the description that followed it.

You still need to put the crank in TDC. This is because there could be tension on the chain caused by the valve springs etc.

I still think this solution isn’t sufficient because it still uses spring power. The proper solution I think is the mechanical chain tensioner we use here in Holland, manufactured by mxgadgets

Im confused, i have an 07 250 sx-f, will this work? In one sentence it says it will but my bike is on the list of bikes that it will not work for.

does it say that on the DT web-site? or the TT parts store? i ordered from the DT site for my 06 250 and got exactly what i needed...quickly..and it works great! , thumbsup to nate at dirt tricks ! :lol::worthy:

Yeah the Dirt trick website, but i guess it works since you have one for your '06

So my 07 250 xcwf has been making a horriable noise when you try to start it both with the e and kick. The sound, sounds like it comes at the bottom of the stoke but unsure. I have checked the valves twice back to back and they check out ok. They bike has been becoming harder and hadrer to start both hot and cold but once running it seems to be fine. So I started thinking cam chain tensioner ( the noise is not heard at all while running) I took the one out of my 08 250 xc-f and put it in the 07 the noise is the same. So I put it back in the 08 and now the 08 sounds horriable just like the before video of the upgrade video. So what did I do wrong in putting the 08 back in I did notice that when I put it back in it was compressed and should I have put the motor to TDC And if so how do I set that with out pulling the valve cover off and lining up the makes.

I am actually wanting to install this on my 08 250XC-F. i am reading where some say to set it at TDC and some saying the opposite. Do you have to set motor to TDC on the 08 XC-F?

shouldnt matter as long as you install the tensioner right, just make sure you double check the tension after you tighten down the CCT cap:banana:

I have an 08 ktm 450sx-f. I purchased and installed dirt tricks cam chain tensioner. I installed it with the machined "TOP" side up. The instructions state that you should hear the clicking when placing the spring in, I did not. I uninstalled everything and tried again placing the "TOP" side down b/c it only seemed to ratchet this way when not in the engine. When I installed it like this once again no clicking. I uninstalled and reinstalled once more this time pressing on the plunger with a small punch lightly ... I think i may have heard one click. I got an email out to dirt tricks, What do you guys think is it defective? Thanks

Solution : spoke with dirt tricks and several others, no worries about the non-clicking due to chain still being tight / new.
