You name is its better, Faster, lighter, quicker, more of a bike less of a tank. I have mine all set up for trails and it rips..... heavy flywheel and lower gearing is a must for the 450 to make it trail worthy. the luma frame is much more flickable. GET ONE!!!!:worthy:

'07 WR has the aluminum frame and is optimized for trails out of the box.

The YZ is a great bike, but for my money, it is too much trouble to set it up for trail riding when Yamaha already makes a perfect 450 for that.

(unless your trail riding includes a lot of hare scrambles type races, then maybe the shortcomings of the YZ are worth dealing with)

The harsh suspension, close ratio gearbox, and tendency to overheat at low speeds counts the YZ out for me at least. But i do love the thing on an MX track. I am actually looking for an older WR to have around for a second bike and as a trail specific rig, so i might be a little biased

i think your 426 will feel more snappy and brutal compared to the newer 450's thats what ive gathered from personal experience

I have the 03 and am pretty happy with it. You would benefit from a heavier flywheel weight and a bigger rear sprocket. They are a fine woods bike and I personally have had no trouble overheating. Its got the four speed tranny in it which works well in the tighter stuff because you only need to shift between first and second. :worthy:

I sold my 426 and bought 450 2 weeks ago and had my first ride Saturday, The 450 is the best bike I've ever owned in every way compered to the 426.
