Will these wheels fit my '04 YZ450f?

10 posts in this topic

I bought an '04 YZ450f yesterday and wonder if the wheels off my old '99 YZ 250 2 stroke will bolt right onto my 450. I had fresh rubber front and rear on my '99 YZ before she locked up :worthy: , and I would love to be able to take the entire wheels off and put them on my 450 when the rubber starts to wear. Plus it would be nice to have an extra set with fresh rubber laying around. What is the difference in hubs/rims/wheels between the '99 YZ 250 and '04 450?

Yes if you use the 250 wheel spacers on the front wheel and the 450 spacers on the rear wheel.

Forgive me of my ignorance, as I am still new to all this. I am assuming the "spacers" are technically referred to as "collars"?

I believe that's what the book calls them, yes.

Gotcha, a spacer is what the OEM diagrams call "collars." Thanks for clearing that up, as I was a little confused.

One more question just for clarification (don't want to mess up my new bike. lol .) When putting these older wheels from my '99 YZ on my '04 YZ450f, I will use all the 450's parts (e.g., axle, bearings, everything stock on the 450) except for one thing, the 2 front wheel spacers on my '99 YZ 250?

Thanks Again for your help

The bearings don't need to be changed unless their condition merits it. The '99 bearings will work with your 450 axle, and the '99 spacer/collars.

Yeah, just use the 450 axles and rear wheel spacers, then use the 250 front wheel spacers.
