How about a 54whp WR250X?

I've been quitely developing a turbo kit for the WRX/R and after a few months of R&D on the streets and on the dyno I'm pretty happy about this. I've attached a few images and a dyno graph comparing a 2008 WR250X with a header and slip-on vs. a 2008 WR250X with the prototype MPFab turbo kit installed. I'm moving into production of these kits over the next few weeks and was wondering if any of you would be interested. I hope to have 10 of these on the shelves by the end of the month. I should have hard pricing next week and will most likely be offering a nice discount for the first 10 sold. This will be offered as a complete kit with electronics or a "Tuner" Kit with no electronics for those of you who already posses a PCIII. Both versions will come with a "base" map to get you off and running however it would be strongly suggested that the end user take it to a dyno and verify the tune since air fuel ratio can change based on things like alttitude and climate.

This kit is a bolt on affair with simple tools. It requires the installer to drill and tap one hole and trim the side panel to clear the charge pipe. It can be easily installed in under 3hrs.

Anybody interested?

I want one right now! :bonk:

That is insane im down for the top 10 discount. So sign me up checks in the mail! :lame:

Hello Mpfab! Good job! Is there an extra oil system for turbo? and How can I add/change motor oil? Is it necessary to remove the turbine or is room for a pipe?

I'm in anyway.

holy shite.... :lame:

it's really nicely done... but I think it will be very hot, esp for the tropical weathers here

hahaha sick. rough estimate of price?

I'm intrigued and interested but since I am really not very knowledgeable about turbo systems I've got a few questions.

1) How much additional weight are we looking at?

2) How badly is the gas mileage suffering?

3) Does it get very hot?

And yes what are we looking at ball park for the system without PCIII since I already have one.

Thanks and BTW nice work.......:lame:

Nice work. How is the rideability? Lag? I'd hate to be in mid-turn and get a goose from the boost...

1)Well under 10lbs is my estimate but I haven't had it all off the bike and weighed it

2) The only time checked it it was around 54mpg. This was after a full afternoon of "flogging" on some curvy roads until the light came on and then filling it back up. "Result May Vary". I'm sure there are people with heavier hands than I as well as lighter ones. If you're worried about MPG's, this may not be for th mod for you. Not directed specifically at "Motard-Menace"

3)No. That being said, I would not suggest wearing shorts whilst flogging it as the charge pipe does get warm. Wearing shorts while riding may be against ones best interest anyway.

Still getting quotes from suppliers ,but you would be looking at saving 275-300 dollars. There are still some electronics needed other than the PCIII to function correctly , but those would be included with the tuner kit.

It's called throttle control my dear boy!;)There is no "lag" as represented by the graph. However there is a very strong rush of power when full throttle is applied. It feels 2 stroke-esque without feeling peaky. Plus the gearing and weight of the bike keep it from feeling violent like a modern 250cc MX'er. It's very rideable.

Mfab,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I was not that concerned about gas mileage just more curious then anything and if its still getting around 50 miles per gallon thats pretty damn good pumping out 54 HP. Keep me down as an interested party and thanks again.......

HOLY INDUCTION, BATMAN!!!

I can't believe what I'm seeing! 54 hp and 29 ft-lbs from a WRX!!!

I um... uh... eh.... wha?.... :crazy:

:lame::bonk::lol::eek: :eek:

:eek::ride: Oh, yeah. :eek:

some turbos can take away the control, that was my concern. Your reply although a bit prickly was sufficient. :lame:

Sorry my dear... umm man! :lame:

Do you anticipate any adverse affect on the durability of the base engine - should we expect to stockpile valves, pistons and rings?

BTW, I'll take one! :lame:

I would be a liar if I said with 100% certainty that this would never blow up the engine or wouldn't lessen the durability of the motor - Heck , it's TWICE the stock output:devil: . However, it has been rock solid so far and I have given it a beating. I have 124 "pulls" on the dyno and countless hours with the throttle pinned open on some of my favorite local roads without a single hiccup! All this R&D is tough!:bonk:

Have you pulled it apart to see how well the tranny is taking the additional power throughput?

I doubt it, he's probably having too much fun blasting down the street scaring the neighbors and all that. :lame:

Amazing....put this head to head with the 60-something HP DRZ and watch the

tears roll down their cheeks. :lame:

Probably. But before I go out and buy a WR and this kit, I want to know that I'll get more than 500 miles out of the combo before... :lame:
