99 yz400 oil question

when i check my oil everytime i ride, i have to add quite a bit (almost a quart) before every ride, i was just wondering if this is normal.

Running the bike for more than 3 minutes before checking the oil is the proper procedure. If you are not doing this you are getting an incorrect reading.

It's normal for 4-strokes to consume a little oil when ridden, some of it will even get pushed out the crankcase breather.

I wouldn't say that usiing a quart of oil per ride is excessive unless everytime you ride it is the BAJA 1000. You either aren't checking it correctly or you have a problem.
