Yep Sounds Like Your Oil Ring Is Worn. Thats The One On The Bottom Its The 3 Peice Ring. Take A Look At The Valves To Make Sure There Isn't Any Oil Residue On Top Of The Intake Valves That Would Indicate A Guide Seal Or A Guide Problem

does the bike have alot of blowby? my piston and rings were shot and everytime i rode my foot would get covered in oil from the breather hose.

i replaced the cylinder and installed a je 13:5:1 piston. installed stainless valves and kibble white springs and valve seals. took care of my problem

Exactly how do you check the oil?

you should have the service manual, walks you through everything, same one dealer mechanics use, (not trying to sound like a jerk here) anyways after oil change and refilling i start mine up until warm then check dipstick and add oil if necessary, you're supposed to loosen oil pressure check bolt also ,but i never do.
