I am having no problems with my YZ450

And Wiz's bike needs no work which cannot be said for the fences he keeps hitting with it:busted:

Geez, a guy gets tangled up in barbed wire just three times in one year and you never hear the end of it.

By the way, the ability to slide a bike under a barbed wire fence at 30 mph without getting a scratch is truly a skill.

Geez, who keeps putting those darned fences in the way anyhow???:busted:

Wow, doood! You ride like Steve McQueen!

Chalk another '06 YZ450F up to flawless operation since new.

Valves checked twice in it's life and well within tolerance.

04 & 06 yz 450's bought both new with no major problems..it makes my new bike ever 2 year rule hard to keep hahah

Ya, no kidding!

I always took care of my 426 but beat the crap out of it racing desert and track. NEVER had an engine problem. In 8 years valves were adjusted once and it wasnt major. I ended up selling it which was a sad day. Now I have an 05 yz450 with a fresh motor and suspension. I hope this bike is as durable as the 426. I'm a little freaked about the less oil capacity and 4 speeds but so far so good. Oh and its a red sticker which sucks. I heard there's ways to make it Green, but that's another topic.

Threads like these make me want to ride my yz forever with just oil and air filter changes seriously except for the rear tire though

my silly ass 04 450 keeps using gas. every weekend, i put gas in it, and it uses it up. oh yeah it wore my boots out, gloves too.

I love how this thread got brought back from 2008! i've had a 2005, 2006, 2008, and now a 2010....zero problems on the 05 08 and 10, but bought the 06 used, and had to replace clutch basket and clutches, piston and rings, and then sucked sand up the breather tube and finished off the head. But the bikes i bought brand new ran flawless!

well just got my first yami and this thread makes me happy .everyone i know who rides blue never has problems.\

but i heard they use lots of air filter oil.

Well, I've got a complaint. My 2002 426 has just started to leak around the water pump seal.

I DO NOT expect to have to do fairly simple maintenance at nine year intervals. I'm sending a bill for £2 for the seal to Yamaha. I'm not going to stand for it, I'm telling you.

That's right Pembell, dont take that crap!

So from what I've read, if you don't like how durable/reliable the YZ's are, then don't get a WR cause then your tools will really rust! I'm reading that 500 hours and more or about 15,000 miles are not uncommon as well..........

I am now seriously considering going with Blue now and NOT Orange...

Good to hear it -- my poor bike is under-utilized at just 25 hours right now. (in 1 year) - at this rate, i will get tired of looking at it before i wear it out
