Why was the 400F production stopped?

Hey,

I'm looking at the WR/YZ serious, and was wondering about the 250 vs. 400, vs 426. I notice they made a 400F for a few years starting in 1998?, and then stopped.

Why? :) Is the 426 almost same as the 400 or what? Personally, after reading all of the discussion about the 426 being too much, and the 250 not being enough, it seems that 400 makes sense.

Comments?

Currently 100% Honda in my basement, but definitely looking blue right now.

426 is pretty much the same as the 400. The 426 just has a lot more ass. Its also a bit more refined than the early 400's were.

it's called IMPROVEMENT via engine displacement.

They still make the 400, they just don't sell it in the US anymore. In Australia, where the 250 class can run 4 strokes only up to 400cc, they still sell it there. Learned it from TT.

:D The man is right, I can go buy a brand new 400 tommorow...if I wanted to! :) Thats UK, europe, Aus etc etc.....

You can buy them in Canada also. I thought I heard of some one ordering one through his state side dealer.

They might still sell those babies over here but no-one buys 'em because 426 guys know they can smoke 400. No replacement for displacement mate. :):D

No replacement for displacement mate.

if this is so why is a yzf250 so much faster then an xr400

and why is a yz400f faster then a xr600?

my 98wr400 will beat any stock 426 in a drag race.[actually its not 400 anymore and its been slighlty modified, but its still giving up 6cc]

:D LOL here we go again...my Nearly stock 99 WR 400 blows a 426 I ride with into the weeds, LOL it all in the jetting :D and as for XR 600's well.......... :)
