Axial Play in Waterpump Shaft

1 post in this topic

I'm trying to troubleshoot an overheating problem on my WR444. It has a Byesen Supercooler on it. I removed the waterpump housing to make sure everything in there was "per Hoyle", and noted that the shaft would rotate approximately 5-6 degrees within the slot on the balance gear, and that it has about .090" of axial float. Is this normal? I really don't remember what it was like when I took it apart last...
