Removing the backfire screen to clean the filter

Its been a long day, excuse me if this is stupid simple.

But I cannot get it off... its an 07 wr450f.

Does the cap that fits the 'other side' of the filter screw off stem ?

You use a pair of pliers and grab the outside edge of the cap and pull it off while twisting it a little. Be careful not to catch any of the filter with the pliers like I did the first time. Hope this helps.
