yzf450 5ta-y1 piston size????

2 posts in this topic

I got a piston for my yzf450 and need a set of rings for it. The marking on the bottom is 5TA Y1. Does anyone know if this is standard or how far over standard it is bored. It measures out to be 94.56mm. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The number cast into the bottom is more or less meaningless. Basically, there is one piston size listed for the engine because the cylinder bores are Nikasil plated aluminum, and can't be overbored for wear without being re-plated, which costs about the same as a replacement jug does.

Standard piston size is 94.945-94.960mm, and the piston clearance is spec'd at 0.1mm (.004").
