Woods Friendly with Legs

Just got my YZ 450F and of course I'm already wanting to make changes. This is my first true motocross bike, even though I have always ridden enduro. So........

What have you guys done to your YZ to make it more woods and rock friendly and give it some distance between fuel stops? Pics would be great too.

I know that I could have bought a WR, but I wanted the YZ, and I have quit asking myself why.

I look forward to your input as I begin to put together my Christmas list.

GYTR flywheel, Acerbis Guards, Obvious tire changes for conditions, WC rad cages and skidplate, PMB endcap (cheap way to get FS approved SA)

I'm still debating which tank to get, leaning towards IMS, just have to figure out how to get it cleared through my sponsor (read wife). I'm sure some guys are running some other combos but these have worked well for me so far.

I have a plated YZ400f that has a WR charging system and flywheel, FMF Q pipe, and it gets really good mileage. I went for a ride the other day and did about 50 miles of Dual Sport riding with some twisties, fire roads, trails, and even snow and it only used 1.3 gallons. I don't think I will even mount the Clarke tank I have if my range is going to be that good. I am used to riding the ol KDX where 30 miles of off-road was a lot.

This is what I have done. I changed my rear to a 52, 9 oz GYTR flywheel, IMS 3.1, PMB end cap, PMB kick it kick stand, Zip Ty rad cages, Devol skid plate, and I re routed my breather tube into the air box. I can post some pics if you need them.

I recently purchased a new yz450f myself and I love the bike. The changes I made to the bike are the following:

1. Moose rad guards, W.C braces, rear caliper guard and skid plate

2. FMF Q pipe (What a difference over the stock pipe)

3. Clarke oversize tank (3.2 gallons)

4. Took the stock tires off and threw them as far as I could throw

5. Moose rear H.D disk guard

6. RK X ring O-ring chain and Blue renthal 51 in rear

7. Blue & Black Powermadd hand guards

8. Blue ASV levers (shortys)

9. reroute the crankcase breather tube into the airbox( This mod is a must if you own a 06-08 yz450f because, yes gentlemen, they do suck air at higher rpms)

10. Blue fork bleeders

11. GYTR H.D clutch springs

12. Twin-Air air filter

13. seal savers

14. GYTR air screw

15. Powershot 2 and minor jetting adjustment

16. Fastway Footpegs

17. Hour meter

18. Blue axel blocks, front master cylinder cover, rear master cylinder cap, timing plugs and oil filler plug, In-line 5/16 blue fuel filter and asv clamp

I think I covered most of my mods although some of them were just because I had extra cash on hand.

What did you go with, what conditions do you typically ride in, and are you happy with them

I ride nothing but trails and all year long. I ride alot in the different National Forest areas. The terrain ranges from clay, hard pan, rocky hill climbs in the summer to snow in the winter. I am happy with all the items I listed. I will post a few pics of each item later today.

Ya, but what tires did you go with?
