help - choke plate screws???

3 posts in this topic

I've recently acquired a new '05 650r and am working on uncorking and greasing. I was working on the carb today, going to change out some jets and install the XR's Only choke plate, and I notice that the two screws that hold on the choke plate are quite severely squashed to prevent them from coming out. How have you guys gotten these out? I did a search but didn't find much on this specifically. I don't really like the thought of a bunch of brass filings in the carb. Is there any other way or should I just take a file to them?

You have to very carefully remove that smashed end. A Dremel and a steady hand will work.

the screws are a soft metal so i was able to just unscrew them with no damage to the choke shaft.
